Target by country, device and browser

Send only the right visitors to your offer, and route everyone else to a backup page.

How targeting works

Under Show Advanced Settings, each link has three targeting blocks: Geotargeting, Browser targeting and System targeting (operating system). Each starts at “All …”. Switch it to “Only the … targeted below” and choose:

  • Include — only these are allowed through.
  • or Exclude — everyone except these.

Countries are grouped by Tier 1, 2 and 3, and there is an EU Countries shortcut. Tier 1 is the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Where untargeted visitors go

Visitors who don’t match your targeting are:

  • sent to the Backup URL, if you set one;
  • otherwise blocked — sent to the Blocked Url, or shown a 404.

Tip

Set a Backup URL — a general offer or your homepage — so untargeted traffic still earns something instead of hitting a dead end.

Mobile, iOS and repeat URLs

For simple device routing you don’t need rules at all:

Mobile URLPhones go here. Tablets too, if Treat Tablets Like a is set to Mobile Phone.
iOS URLVisitors on iOS go here.
Repeat URLVisitors who already clicked this link in the last 30 days go here.

Targeting is checked first; then the iOS, Mobile and Repeat URLs, in that order. Visitors sent to a Mobile or iOS URL are counted in the MUR column.

Targeting on rotators

Rotators have the same targeting blocks for the whole rotator, and each rotator URL can have its own. A visitor who doesn’t match a URL’s targeting simply skips that URL and moves on to the next eligible one. See Rotator URL settings.
