Track conversions with postbacks
Have your affiliate network tell ClickLookup when a click converts, so reports show revenue.
A postback is a URL your network calls when someone converts. Because it carries the ClickLookup click id, the conversion is tied to the exact click — with its country, device, sub IDs and cost.
Set it up
Pass the click id to your network.
Add
{clickid}to your link’s Primary URL in the parameter your network uses for tracking, for example:https://network.example/offer?aff_sub={clickid}Give your network the postback URL.
Replace the placeholders with your network’s own macros:
https://api.clicklookup.com/postback?clickId={aff_sub}&payout={payout}&transactionId={txid}The Postback Builder writes this URL for you for most popular networks.
Send a test conversion.
It appears in the dashboard’s Live feed and in the link’s conversion columns.
Postback parameters
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
clickId | Required. The click id your network received from {clickid}. |
payout | Revenue for this conversion. Defaults to 0. |
currency | Three-letter code, e.g. USD (the default). Amounts are not converted between currencies. |
transactionId | Your order id. A second postback with the same id is ignored, so network retries never double-count. |
eventType | action (default), engagement, sale, upsell or resale. |
eventName | Your own label, e.g. purchase. |
Choosing an event type
Event types keep different kinds of conversions apart in reports: actions (ACT) for leads or sign-ups, engagements (ENG), and sales (USL). Upsells and resales count towards RSL together with sales. Revenue always adds up every payout, whatever the type.
